So this week has been a busy one again! We had a lovely trip out to London at the weekend, it was our first time away from our newborn baby Heath so we were super nervous about leaving him, but at the same time we knew he was in good hands with our parents and my sister in law (who happens to be a doctor!). Here is a snap of the little cutie, who turned 8 weeks this week 🙂
So off we went to London on our own.. eeeeek.. it felt weird, not having a little person to constantly look after. We missed him like crazy, but we also realised it was nice to have a little time to ourselves, just to pay attention to each other!
We went to watch Thriller at the Lyceum Theatre and it was a great show. They play pretty much all the Michael Jackson songs and so you can imagine you are up on your feet dancing away, great fun!
We also had some drama this week as one of our cats got seriously ill, she lost her appetite and her weight dropped dramatically so we had to take her to the out of hours vets. After two days in the vets she was allowed to come home and thankfully it was just a virus so nothing too threatening. My cats are like my babies so it was such a relief when we realised she was going to be ok. We have been nursing her back to health all week and she is gradually getting better, poor thing. Here she is looking skinny but OK..
So as you can imagine a busy week, but I still managed to get some good workouts in. I made it to Crossfit three times where we worked on front squats (where the bar is kept on your shoulders in front of you with your elbows as high as possible) and strict press (similar to shoulder press but you cannot use your legs to help push the bar up, legs stay stable when moving).
Here are some Crossfit inspired workouts that you can do anywhere:
15 MINUTES AMRAP
- 20 CTF (chest to floor) burpees
- 15 Walking Lunges (each side)
- 10 HR (hand rest) push ups. The technique for these is to go all the way to the floor, lift your hands up off the floor and then lift yourself back up.
Repeat these moves for 15 minutes as many rounds as possible.
- 200m Run
- 20 Pull Ups (you can use a table or a door). Do press ups if not possible but do 30 reps
- 30 sit ups.
Repeat this five times.
If you like these workouts, pin them 🙂
Friday – I completed an at home abs workout. I like to keep things simple with around 3 exercises completed in rounds. This one is made up of:
100 Russian Twists (alternating sides):
Plank for 1 minute (or as long as you can working up to 1 minute eventually), make sure your hips are level with your knees:
Hollow Holds for 30 seconds (this is really difficult so make sure your back is touching the floor, if it starts to come away put your feet back on the floor).
Repeat these moves twice or even three times if you can.
If you like this workout, pin it 🙂
Some motivational music ive been loving this week:
A post I found really honest and refreshing was Neg’s response to some comments she had on her media about drinking wine and being in the fitness profession. She talks about how she helps people make empowered choices for themselves based on their preferences and their lifestyle.
This is something I can completely relate to as it’s all about enjoying life to the fullest and part of that for some people is enjoying wine! It’s all about balance and having the knowledge to understand how this will impact your body composition and being ok with that – if you choose.

Podcasts are fairly new to me as I’ve only recently started utilising my time more efficiently and started to listen to podcasts instead of music when I’m in the car/exercising etc. As a busy mum, I need to make the most of my time and as one of my goals this year is to grow and better myself by learning, this is a great solution! I came across these podcasts which I’ve just started listening to, but already have got so much value out them. They give advice to people trying to set up a blog/business online, they are not trying to sell you anything, they are purely interested in educating people based on their experience and giving them extremely valuable content. Download their podcasts here – https://www.smartpassiveincome.com/podcasts/.
My favourite thing to eat this week has been my chocolate almond protein bars, they’re so moreish I have to try not to eat them all! Try them here – Chocolate Almond Bars.
I love a good guacamole, and one recipe I will definitely be trying next week is this one – it’s very similar to how I make it however there is a technique used that I havent tried before which is adding the onions, salt and chillies together in a bag and bashing them up to release the flavours! Try it here – http://playswellwithbutter.com/2017/04/18/best-guacamole-recipe-ever/.
SUPPLEMENTS I USE
Have an amazing week.
